Annual Award Names Due Feb. 17.
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will pay tribute to all annual award winners in the Feb. 24 edition of the Air, Land & Sea Times. All organizational points of contact must submit award titles, recipients' names, unit details and duty title of the winner. If submitting an individual award winner, include rank, first and last name, duty title and organization. Please send information to 87.abw.pa@us.af.mil no later than Feb. 17. Tax Center
JB MDL Tax Centers officially opened Feb. 1. The centers provide free tax services for active duty, retirees and their dependents. The McGuire and Dix tax center is located in the post office at 2907 Tuskegee Airmen Ave. The Lakehurst tax center is located at 150 Berry Rd. Hours of operation are listed on Page 5. Voter Registration
The Human Resources-Military office is offering voting registration assistance for all members of the joint base community. The voting office will provide on the spot automated registration and absentee ballot request forms for all who require it. The office is located in the customer service office at 5418 Delaware Ave. Call 562-2746 for more information.
Halvorsen Hall Themed Luncheons
Halvorsen Hall Dining Facility is scheduled to provide a Hispanic Lunch today, a German lunch Feb. 17 and a soul food lunch Feb. 24. Call 754-3252 for more information.
Scholarship Awards
The Twenty Plus Retirement Club is set to start accepting applications for a $1000 scholarship today. The scholarship is for high school seniors who have service members in their immediate family. For more information call (609) 261- 9456 for more information.
Valentine's Gala
The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Chapel is set to host a Valentine's Gala at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at Tommy B's Community Activities Center. Tickets are $20 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 754-4673 for more information.
Teaming with School Personnel
The Warfighter and Family Readiness Center, in conjunction with the Parent Advocates for Students and Schools, is set to host Teaming with School Personnel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Dix Chapel. A panel of school administrators, teachers and counselors will be available to provide parents insight to their child's educational experience and to navigate through the school system. Black History Month Luncheon
The Ocean County Vocational Technical School Culinary Arts School is set to host a black history month luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at 33 Trotter road. The fee is $8 and seats are limited.
Disability Transition Assistance Program Briefing
The Warfighter and Family Readiness Center is set to host a Transition Assistance Program briefing from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at 3011 Tuskegee Airmen Ave. This briefing provides additional information to transitioning members looking to file for Veterans Affairs benefits. Give Parents a Break
The Warfighter and Family Readiness Center is set to host a "give parents a break" event from noon to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at 3011 Tuskegee Airmen Ave. The event gives spouses of deployed service members a chance to relax or get things done while their children are being cared for. Federal Employment Workshop
The Warfighter and Family Readiness Center is set to host a federal employment workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at 5644 Doughboy Loop. The workshop prepares attendees to conduct effective job searches, to read federal job announcements, to determine preference eligibility and learn how to put together a federal resume. MLK Memorial Bus Trip
African American Cultural Activity Association is set to sponsor a bus trip to the MLK Memorial in D.C. from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25. The trip cost is $35 and bringing a brown bag lunch is recommended. Call 754-2040 for more information.
Breathe ... Rest, Relax, Rejuvenate
The Health and Wellness Center is set to host the Rest, Relaxation, and Rejuvenation Seminar from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 29 at 2504 McGuire Blvd. The seminar will teach participants how to deal with stress in a number of ways. Call 754-2462 for more information.
National Prayer Breakfast

COVE Training Opportunities
The Community Outreach Volunteer Experience is set to hold a training session from 1 to 2 p.m. March 26 at the Liberty Room in Tommy B's Community Activities Center located at 2705 East Arnold Ave. The training is intended to educate service members who wish to volunteer for public engagement activities. Mini Job Fair
The Warfighter and Family Readiness Center is set to host a mini job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 29 at Tommy B's Community Activities Center. This event is open to separating military, veterans and DOD civilians. Call 754-3154 for more information.
Neighborhood Community Watch Meetings
The joint base community is set to hold a meeting for the neighborhood community watch program from 7 to 8 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month in Falcon Courts North. The meeting is intended to inform community members on how they can help protect the community by taking part in neighborhood watches and patrols. Call 723-6563 for more information.
Firewood Cutting Program
The Natural Resource Office is offering firewood cutting permits for the winter season from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday located at 5317 Snyder Ave. A $20 fee is applied for each cord of wood. Call 562-7363 for more information.
Attic Hour of Operations
The Attic is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations are accepted during normal hours of operation. The Attic staff asks that no one leave donations outside of the building. Call 754-8703 for more information.
Firehouse movie night
A movie night is scheduled for 8 p.m. every second Friday of the month at The Airmen's Firehouse. This event is open to all junior enlisted. Free popcorn and beverages will be available. Call 754-2233 for more information.
87th MDG training hours
The 87th Medical Group will close for readiness training at noon the first Thursday of each month.
Palace Chase and Palace Front Briefings
The joint base recruiter for the Air Force Reserves is set to host a briefing at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Room 22 at 2816 Falcon Lane. The Palace Front allows service members the opportunity to seamlessly transfer directly from active duty without a break in service. Call 754-2918 for more information.
Home School Art Class
The Arts and Crafts Center offers a 10-week course for ages 6 and up. Five sessions of pottery and five sessions of fine arts are included. Call 562-5691 for more information.
International Spouses' Group
The International Spouses' Group assists foreign-born spouses with cultural adaptation. The group serves as the first stop, as well as ongoing support, for multicultural families. The group meets the last Friday of each month from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for planned social and educational activities. Call 562-2767 for more information on this event.
Beginning Crochet Workshop
A beginner's crochet class is set from 10 to 11 a.m. the first and third Saturdays of each month at the Arts and Crafts Center. Call 562-5691 for more information or to register.
Financial Readiness Program
The Financial Readiness Program assists service members and their families in improving personal financial status and their ability to perform as informed consumers. The program focuses on improving credit reliability and reducing debt. Available services include: complaint resolution, individual counseling, training classes, resource library, debt liquidation and budget development and planning. MPS Passport Appointments
The Military Personnel Section passport office will accept appointments only for official passport processing. Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Call 754-3826 to schedule an appointment. Passport pick-ups will continue to be handled on a walk-in basis during normal MPS customer service hours. As a reminder, customers assigned to the 6th Airlift Squadron, 621st Contingency Response Wing, 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force and the U.S. Army have separate passport agents in their units who are able to service their passport/Visa needs. JB MDL Thrift Shops
McGuire
The shop is is set to be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and the first Saturday of each month. The shop accepts gently-used donations. Consignments are accepted from 10 a.m. to noon on these days. Proceeds are re-invested into the JB MDL community. Volunteers are welcome. The McGuire Thrift Shop is located at 3446 Broidy Rd. Call 754-2368 for more information.
Dix
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first and third Saturdays of each month. The Thrift Shop is the home of the $1 jeans: men's, women's and children's sizes are available. Gently-used donations and consignments are accepted from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The shop is looking for volunteers. High school students can accumulate community service hours by volunteering. Proceeds help fund scholarships sponsored by the Dix Spouses' Club. Tuskegee Airmen Meetings
The Hannibal M. "Killer" Cox chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Incorporation is set to host its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Joint Base Library. Pemberton Gate: hours temporarily extended
The Pemberton Gate is now temporarily open for extended hours. The new gate hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Continue to check the Air, Land and Sea Times newspaper, installation website and Facebook page for further updates.

Green Waste Schedule and Policy
Green Waste pick up is Monday for
McGuire and Tuesday for Dix. Green
waste will not be picked up if it contains
trash, recycling, rocks, or dirt.
Recycling Guidelines
Recycling materials must be placed
at the curb by 6 a.m. biweekly on Thursday.
Do not place any paper or cardboard in
your recycling bin, trash can or plastic bag.
Paper can be placed in a brown bag,
bundled or placed in a low-lying box.
Shredded paper must be placed in a
paper bag or in a cardboard box.
Cardboard boxes must be flattened
and bundled. Cans, glass bottles and
plastics must be rinsed clean.
Do not flatten or place in plastic bags.
Labels can stay on but caps and lids
must be thrown away in the garbage.
